How to Draw a Dalek

"The Dalek Invasion of Earth (colourised)" by Tom Newsom on Flickr.
Daleks are alien cyborg mutants from the long-running British science-fiction television show, Doctor Who. The show is 50 years old and the Daleks have been in many episodes, from the very second in 1963 all the way to the anniversary special this past November 23rd. The colors and shapes have changed over the years, but the basic design remains the same. The Dalek I drew the tutorial for is the design that first appeared in 2005.

Step 1: Draw the dome.

Step 2: Draw the two lights on the head as well as lines and the eye-stalk.

Step 3: Draw in the grill with three vertical and two horizontal bars.

Step 4: Draw in the middle section, with a bar on the bottom edge and mounts for the weapons.

Step 5: Draw in vertical boxes on the middle section.

Step 6: Draw in the laser-gun and the manipulator arm (plunger).

Step 7: Draw in the bottom section.

Step 8: Draw in the spheres.

Step 9: Draw in the black part at the bottom?

Step 10: Color it in. This particular version of the Dalek is sort of a bronze color, but it can be drawn as previous versions which were several other colors or combinations of colors (silver, grey, black, white, gold, etc.), and some more recent versions are quite bright colors (red, blue, yellow, orange, etc).

Special thanks to Ezra for letting me borrow his phone in the making of this post.
